This film proved to be Klein-Rogge's breakthrough starring role, causing him to be become revered (as well as feared) by the viewing public in 1922. The character of Mabuse soon became mythical, in the same class as our Universal Studios monsters such as Dracula.
The bottom image shows that Rudy had actually played TWO characters in the first half of this epic.
