Klein-Rogge in the role of General Ruthven
Yet another role that wasted Rudolf's talent. It had potential, if only they had given him more screen time and a little more dialogue besides the occasional grumbling under his breath. He plays a Scotsman through and through in this, but it would have been interesting to see where he could have taken the part if circumstances had allowed it. As fate would have it, we are only left with what feels like unfinished business, and a supposedly dramatic film where it seems that Zarah Leander breaks into a morose song in almost every other scene.
